BIG GOSSAN RESCUE PHOTO UPDATE

Workers crowd round an ambulance shortly after a survivor was rescued from the debris after a classroom collapsed in Big Gossan.

Rescuers used a ground support split set and welded mesh to prevent rockfalls so that the workers are able to proceed with rescue and recovery work.

Work at the collapsed classroom at the Big Gossan underground training facility has been slow-going as the confined space and danger from cave-ins forced rescuers to use light equipment such as wheelbarrows, manual jacks and saws.
