Visit of Energy Minister and Minister of Public Works to Mimika

Last February 14 -15, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Sudirman Said, paid a visit to Mimika in the framework of meeting with the Provincial and Regional Governments with regards to the development of an industrial estate in Papua.

The meeting led by Minister Sudirman was warm and amicable and attended by deputy stakeholders, the Governor, the Regents of Mimika, Paniai, Puncak, Intan Jaya, the Speaker of Papua’s Parliament, Head of the Papua People’s Council, Members of Committee 7 of  Indonesia’s Parliament and PT Freeport Indonesia’s President Director. Concurrently at another venue  special team from the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing led by the Minister officiated at the initiation of various infrastructure projects in Papua.

During his stay the Minister of Energy accompanied by PT Freeport Indonesia’s President Director also visited the reclamation and biodiversity conservation areas at Mil 21.

Some members of the Energy Ministry’s visiting party among other Special Staff Said Didu and Secretary General Teguh Pramudji and relevant officials also paid a short visit to PTFI’s operational area in the highlands. They were accompanied by various journalists of national media. They also visited the facilities at the Grasberg Open Mine, the DOZ Underground mine and the Concentrate Processing Plant at Mil 74.
