Gresik Regent Attends Rembuk Akur Event, Calls For Alignment of PTFI Programs With RPJMD

Gresik, 14 Juni 2024 – Gresik Regent Fandi Akhmad Yani underscored the importance of aligning community development programs by PT Freeport Indonesia with Gresik Regency’s Regional Medium Term Development Planning (RPJMD).

“The government has in place a development guideline, the RPJMD. It distinctly and comprehensively sets out the programs we have prepared for social assistance, development, education, and health. As such,  with regard to the “Rembuk Akur” harmonizing consultative forum, alignment with the Gresik Regency’s  RPJMD is essential,” the Regent directed during the 6th  Rembuk Akur activity that was held in Gresik on Friday (14/6). 

He said alignment of programs drawn up is crucial in order  for the programs to be on target and achievable, in accordance with the region’s development indicators, such as to enable increased quality of education, health, and human resources development  in Gresik.   

“We must earnestly sit down together in discussions, and consult the RPJMD, to ensure PTFI programs align with the Gresik Regency government’s development plans,” he said.  

Gus Yani, as the regent is familiarly called, also called for good synergy among the government, businesses, and communities, in order for programs to be well executed and to bring real benefits for the people of Gresik.  

Rembuk Akur is a consultation forum for dialogs between PTFI and stakeholders. This activity has been in place for the past two years.   

The 6th Rembuk Akur activity focused on reporting of activity results and presentations on social investment programs. Five sectors that were the primary focus of this forum were garbage management, development of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs/ UMKM), infrastructure access to basic necessities, river, marine  and coastal conservation, and manpower capacity development.  

PTFI Director and Executive Vice President for Sustainable Development, Claus Wamafma welcomed the Gresik Regent’s directive. PTFI will continue to strengthen synergy with the Gresik Regency government, communities, and all stakeholders. “This synergy is expected to generate positive, sustainable impacts in the social, economic, and environmental  aspects  in Gresik, in line with the company’s vision and mission to contribute to sustainable development,”  he stated.  

Claus expressed thanks and voiced appreciation for the Gresik Regent’s directive, and gave his assurance of PTFI aligning the programs initiated by the PTFI Smelter with Gresik Regency development plans.  

Attending this event were Gresik Regency government officials, PT Freeport Indonesia working partners, and representatives from organizations, communities, social elements, and academia.. 

“For us, the Gresik Regent’s presence in this event is highly significant, signaling strong commitment to supporting the social and environmental initiatives launched by PTFI and other stakeholders,” Claus stated.
