Bernard Alomang was a PT Pangan Sari Utama employee, however in early 2010 he decided to be an entrepreneur and applied to join the the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise program (PP-UMKM) with the PTFI Social Local Development (SLD) Department.

That year Bernard started consultation with PP-UMKM, in hope of joining and becoming a participant of the program as a Papuan entrepreneur. Upon completing competency tests, on March 19, 2010, Bernard officially became a participant. Working with the Environmental Department, CV Nem Kamame became a supplier of grass for the cattle project at Mile 21.

As a grass supplier, Bernard maintains his own 4 acres of private property as a plantation. To meet the full needs of MP21 requests of grass, Bernard also buys grass from farmers in the SP-5 and SP-6 areas. With his business, Bernard also plays a role in advancing the community’s economy surrounding that area. With hard work and perseverance, Bernard has gained the trust of his customers and is able to increase the amount of grass supply from 3 tons of grass per day to 6 tons of grass per day, and is able to employ up to 6 employees.

In addition to supplying elephant grass to the Environmental Department, CV Nem Kamame also manages a nursery located in the irrigation area, near the new market in Timika and is currently preparing 1,700 tree seedlings. (hp)
