Freeport Assists 500 Trash Bins for the Central Papua Provincial Government

PT Freeport Indonesia handed 500 trash bins to the Papua Provincial Government to coincide with World Environment Day in Nabire Regency Monday.

 

President Director of PT Freeport Indonesia Tony Wenas in Nabire, Monday, said the assistance of 500 units of trash bins would be distributed in stages until it's done.

 

"We hope the trash bins will not turn into a garbage so it could be useful," he said.

 

According to Wenas, his party hopes the assistance can help Central Papua Provincial Government handle waste in the area.

 

Meanwhile, the Regional Secretary of the Central Papua Provincial Government (Pemprov), Valentinus Sudarjanto Sumito, said his party appreciates PT Freeport Indonesia for the assistance of 500 units of trash bins.

 

"We will place the bins at strategic points so people can easily dispose of their waste," he said.

 

According to Sumito, his party will always remind every resident in the area, with the assistance of trash bins, they will start habituating to separating organic and non-organic waste.

 

He invites residents in the local area to always care for the surrounding environment, especially the amount of plastic waste.

 

He said the Provincial Government would also establish provincial regulations regarding waste management in the regions after the forming of the Central Papua Parliament.
