Jakarta, 5 December 2025 — PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) was conferred the GeoInnovation Awards 2025 by Environmental Systems Research Institute (Esri) Indonesia for the category Sustainability Impact .
“Freeport excels as a pioneer in implementing geospatial technology in the workers’ safety sector. Their approach is seldom applied in industry and is an inspirational model in support of bringing about more responsible operating practices,” a representative from the GeoInnovation Awards 2025 judges, Ronald Adrianta stated after presenting the award in Jakarta on Thursday, 4 December 2025.
PTFI Senior Vice President, Geoengineering & Environment, Ardhin Yuniar says the geospatial technology provides a strategic solution towards achieving operating efficiency and sustainable mining management. “This award demonstrates technology’s ability to reinforce workers’ safety and boost operating standards in our working environment,” Ardhin averred.
He said geospatial technology enables PTFI to identify high noise risk areas more rapidly and accurately, thereby allowing the company to protect its workers more effectively and efficiently.
The noise monitoring zones at PTFI can now be visualized in real time using digital dashboards, replacing the previously used manual survey method that took up more time and resources.
The GeoInnovation Awards is an annual event conducted by Esri Indonesia, a leading geospatial technology company and an official ArcGIS platform provider in Indonesia.
Only nine out of hundreds of participating organizations across Indonesia were selected to receive an award, based on their respective innovations and resulting impacts with regard to achieving sustainable development goals.
