State Mining Industry Holding MIND ID, or Mining Industry Indonesia, which has as members PT Aneka Tambang Tbk, PT Bukit Asam Tbk, PT Freeport Indonesia, PT Inalum (Persero) and PT Timah Tbk, is testing a digital application aimed at increasing mine effluents treatment effectiveness.
The MASTERMINE application under development will facilitate monitoring of mine effluents quality by shifting from manual to digital mode. "Digital transformation has become one of MIND ID’s primary strategy themes, namely towards improving cost competitiveness through digitalization. The company is endeavoring to employ state-of-the-art technology and implement digitalization throughout its entire value chain in order to generate cost savings and maintain business sustainability,” MIND ID Director of Business Development Dilo Seno Widagdo said in a written statement in Jakarta on Monday (4/4/2022)
The back story behind development of the MASTERMINE application is the need for waste management to fulfil commitment to implementation of good mining practices. As a company managing natural resources, mining operations and mineral processing, MIND ID Group produces by-products requiring high-priority handling.
Waste treatment is a considerably high-cost element in mining operations. The MASTERMINE application is expected to result in 10 percent – 20 percent efficiency out of the total cost of mine effluents treatment. The concept grounding the MASTERMINE application is a chemically and digitally integrated system having the capability to process, monitor and control the mine effluents treatment system more efficiently online. Mine workers will be enabled to monitor mine effluents quality and regulate reagent doses injected into mine effluents in real time.
MASTERMINE is also equipped with an alert and notification feature that functions to send warnings to workers in the event of mine effluent quality dropping, such that corrective actions may be immediately taken by further regulation of reagent doses. This process conducted digitally ensures mine effluents consistency remains within the quality standard range in accordance with prevailing regulation.
The MASTERMINE application is developed by the POWERxWIT team – winner of the MIND ID Goes Digital competition in 2021. This application produced by nationals is currently undergoing testing at PT Bukit Asam Tbk (Bukit Asam) and is expected to be fully operational by the 4th quarter of 2022. "The MASTERMINE application proves the work of nationals can support advancement of the mining industry in Indonesia. Ahead, digitalization in the mining industry will reach even higher levels, mining operations will become more efficient and more environmentally friendly.
