18 June 2018

Allaahu Akbar, Allaahu Akbar, Allaahu Akbar, Laa Ilaaha Illallaah Allaahu Akbar, Allaahu Akbar Wa Lillaahil Hamd. Takbir echoed as mountain fog crawled up over Tembagapura, accompanying the Freeport Indonesia’s Muslim community welcomed the arrival of the day of triumph, the 1st Syawal 1439 Hijriya.

The celebration of Idul Fitri 1439 Hijriya at Jobsite begins with Takbir Roving organized the night before. In Tembagapura, in the drizzle and blanketed with highland mist, a convoy of vehicles traveling around Tembagapura echoing the takbir signaling the start of the Eid al-Fitr festival in the highlands. The Takbir convoy was released directly by Director-EVP-Human Resources and Security, Achmad Didi Ardianto. Dozens of Muslims joined the Takbir convoy in Tembagapura, rejoicing at the triumphant day. The excitement of takbir eve in Tembagapura was also enlivened with bedug (big moqque drum) beating and takbir competition, followed by a number of Muslims who compete in pairs for various attractive prizes.

The next morning, thousands of Muslim Freeporters in the highlands followed the Id prayers held at Tembagapura Soccer Field. Although some Freeporters have to celebrate the holiday far from family and loved ones, the celebration of Eid at Jobsite does not diminish the joy of the Freeporters' festivities in Tembagapura. After the Eid prayer, halalbihalal or get together was held, allowing Freeporters to wish Eid al-Fitr, forgive, and share the happiness and warmth of the holiday, while enjoying various typical dishes of Eid – ketupat (rice wrapped cake), chicken and goat curry, rendang, satay to various Lebaran cookies.

Management Open House in the Highlands area was held at the residence of Director-Executive Vice President of Human Resources and Security, Achmad Didi Ardianto. In addition, a number of families in Tembagapura also held an open house event, providing an opportunity for the whole community to mingle in the joy of a warm holiday.

In the lowlands, Eid prayer was centered in the Baiturrahim Mosque Kuala Kencana. After Eid prayer, a lowland-area management open hous was held at the residence of Dani Hamdani, Manager of Warehouse Lowland, in RW-B Kuala Kencana.

For the Kuala Kencana community, in addition to the opportunity for mutual forgiveness, the Eid al-Fitr open house is also an opportunity to meet with colleagues who have not seen each other in the workplace. The photo-taking moment with the guests also colored warm open house activities in Kuala Kencana. Cloudy weather does not discourage the lowland communities for long-to-house residents who open house. Togetherness to enjoy the typical Eid dishes as a paratrous longing some Lowland Freeporters who also did not have the opportunity to return home in this year’s Eid al-Fitr. (Sularso)
