Timika, 4 September 2024 – PT Freeport Indonesia’s Institut Pertambangan Nemangkawi/ Nemangkawi Mining Institute (IPN/ NMI) has received a B Accreditation Certificate as an Educational and Training Institute for Welders, Electricians, and Heavy Equipment Operators, as well as C Accreditation for Training of Heavy Equipment Mechanics, from the Accreditation Commission for Education and Training Institutions in the Energy and Mineral Resources Sector (KA-LDP ESDM).
The Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Ministry expressed appreciation for the continuing commitment demonstrated by IPN/NMI to improve human resources quality, in particular in Papua. “We appreciate IPN's commitment and contributions to the development of human resources in the ESDM sector,” KA-LDP ESDM Chairman Prahoro Nurtjahyo said.
PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) Senior Vice President for Community Development Nathan Kum said this accreditation received from KA-LDP ESDM indicates acknowledgment of IPN's competence in providing excellent training quality. “Award of this accreditation underscores IPN's ability, which is managed by PTFI, to produce competent, quality, and credible training results,” Nathan affirmed.
Award of this accreditation is a formal recognition of an Education and Training Institution in the Energy and Mineral Resources Sector fulfilling requirements to conduct job training.
The Accreditation Certificates were awarded following IPN’s undergoing a stringent evaluation process. This evaluation encompassed institutional aspects, and comprehensiveness of education and training equipment as well as instructors and facilities and infrastructure. IPN is a Job Training Institution belonging to PTFI that provides training for job skills in the mining industry.
IPN is by way of PTFI social investment and commitment to advance human resources quality for the people of Papua, with the specific goal of providing competent and job-ready workers.
IPN General Superintendent Suzan Kambuaya added, in this year IPN focus is on providing training in just 6 major vocations, namely for Heavy Equipment Mechanics, Plant Mechanics, Electricians, Heavy Equipment Operators, Underground Mine Workers, and Welders.
“The goal of training at IPN is to prepare and instruct young Papuans to acquire job skills and occupational expertise. They are also provided with guidance and counseling on positive conduct towards aiding them to make the grade in the competitive working and career world, and in their day-to-day lives,” Suzan said.
