20 January 2022

Badan Pengelolaan Pendapatan Daerah (Bappenda) or the Regional Revenue Management Agency of the Papua Province stated the Pendapatan Asli Daerah (PAD) or Regional Original Revenue during 2021 reached 106.90 percent, or Rp.2,134 trillion, higher over the target set of Rp.1,977 trillion. The head of the Papua Province Regional Revenue Management, MB Setiyo Wahyudi, in Jayapura on Thursday stated the Papua Regional Original Revenue still the highest is from PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI), where PT Freeport Indonesia’s surface water tax arrears to the Papua Provincial Administration amounts to Rp.1,4 trillion of two payment stages.

According to Setiyo, the first stage has been remitted in 2019. and 2019, where the Management of PT Freeport Indonesia has again realized its second stage of the surface water tax arrears of over Rp.685 billion. “We also appreciate and thank Kepala Unit Pelaksana Teknik UPT Sistim Administrasi Manunggal Satu Atap (SAMSAT) or Head of the Technical Implementing Unit of One-stop Administration Services Office, who has been able to meet its revenue target; thereafter Organisasi Perangkat Daerah (OPD) or Regional Apparatus Organization within the Papua Regional Administration and the entire tax-paying community,” he said.

He explained that he extended his gratitude to the tax-payers in Papua who have participated and actively carrying out their obligations to pay tases and local levies, because it is imperative in assisting the Administration in implementing the numerous types of development in the Papua Province. “Although the achievement of the 2021 Papua Regional Original Revenue is over-target, the Papua Regional Revenue Management Agency will adjust the Regional Original Revenue target in 2022, because the PT Freeport’s second phase surface water tax was remitted in 2021,” he reiterated. He added the Papua 2022 Regional Original Revenue target is Rp.1.2 trillion, where he will adjust despite Freeport’s requirement to pay surface water tax in 2022 amounting to over Rp.200 billion.
