Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir plans to inaugurate 5G Mining, a mining facility as the result of cooperation between Freeport Indonesia and the Telkom Group in six months to go. "Following the transformation of the industrial revolution 4.0, we plan to inaugurate 5G mining in six months. This is the first in Southeast Asia," Erick said in a broadcast on Youtube, Tuesday, October 12, 2021.

He said that one of the facilities maintains operational security as the mines that Freeport is working on are categorized as deep mines. Hence, protection is needed for the workers inside. 5G mining facilities also can improve the integrated hyperconnect network connectivity. "There will be sophistication of autonomous cars and large trucks that will be carried out," he said. Erick emphasized that performance, innovation, and transformation at Freeport continue after Indonesia held 51 percent of Freeport provision.

The proof is that this mining company is estimated to experience 100 percent revenue growth compared to last year. "Last year, it was Rp 50 trillion, now until December, the plan is Rp 105 trillion," said Erick.

Along with the increase in revenue, the company's net profit is also expected to soar. If last year's net profit was recorded at Rp 10 trillion, then until December 2021 it is estimated at Rp 40 trillion. "This happened because there was an increase in production capacity, copper prices and efficiency," said Erick Thohir.
