TNI-PT Freeport Sign MoU for Guarding National Vital Objects

25 May 2022

TNI and PT Freeport Indonesia signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) related to securing national vital objects. TNI Commander General Andika Perkasa said that the MoU was following statutory regulations. "This memorandum of understanding is a form of the TNI's commitment to securing national vital objects, especially at PT Freeport Indonesia," he said on the YouTube channel, Wednesday (25/5/2022).

Andika stated that the TNI periodically continues to make several improvements in guarded vital objects to anticipate the attack possibilities of certain groups. "These people, or that group, are much more aggressive, but we also have to be smarter and able to deal with that," he stressed.

Therefore, several security points continue to be repaired and evaluated to support the performance of each soldier on duty, especially the construction of the Post at Mile 62 of PT Freeport Indonesia. The signing of the memorandum of understanding was a follow-up to the previous meeting regarding the addition of security posts for national vital objects at PT Freeport Indonesia.

In a meeting with the President Director of PT Freeport Indonesia, Andika also asked several questions, for example regarding water, electricity, and other facilities at the post. Finally, he hoped that PT Freeport Indonesia can accelerate the preparation of a new cooperation agreement between both parties which is part of the evaluation of securing national vital objects.
