Celebrating the Spirit of Independence Through Healthy Lifestyle, Freeport Indonesia Hosts Nusantara Color Run

Gresik, August 6, 2025 – Around 500 employees from PT Freeport Indonesia's (PTFI) Smelter participated in the "Nusantara Color Run" Fun Run in Kota Baru (Convex) Gresik, East Java, to welcome and celebrate Indonesia's 80th Independence Day while promoting a healthy lifestyle and strengthening camaraderie among employees.

"Through the Nusantara Color Run, we want to invite all employees to celebrate 80 years of Indonesia's Independence with full spirit, health, and happiness. This activity represents unity and the spirit of mutual cooperation that reflects the national values we uphold at PTFI," said PTFI President Director Tony Wenas.

The Fun Run took place on August 3, 2025, with all participating employees wearing traditional clothing as a form of appreciation for Indonesia's cultural diversity in the spirit of the 80th Independence Day commemoration. Participants were required to prioritize safety aspects, including through warm-up sessions conducted before starting the 5-kilometer run to prevent injuries. The activity was then marked by the raising of the start flag by PTFI Smelter's Executive Vice President Corporate Planning and Business Strategy, Horst Dieter Garz.

Tony said PTFI consistently supports various activities that promote healthy lifestyles, both in the work environment and in the community. The spirit of sports within the company is also manifested through the Freeport Olympic event, which involves employee participation from various PTFI work locations, from Tembagapura, Kuala Kencana, Jakarta, to Gresik. The sports competed in are diverse, including badminton, volleyball, table tennis, tennis, bowling, billiards, and e-sports.

PTFI, as the world's largest integrated copper mining company from upstream to downstream, also celebrates Indonesia's 80th Independence Day. Throughout August, PTFI organizes various activities that channel the spirit of nationalism and mutual cooperation at five PTFI work locations, from upstream in Papua—including Tembagapura, Kuala Kencana, and Nabire—to downstream in Gresik, East Java, and Jakarta.

In Tembagapura, various competitions and cultural performances take place with residents of Banti Village. In the Mimika Lowlands, Freeport Indonesia employees conduct social service and village cleaning activities with hundreds of residents from Ayuka Village and Tipuka Village. In Nabire, for the first time, Free Eye Education and Examination for 1,000 school children will be held, distribution of 500 free glasses, and culminating in Free Cataract Surgery for the community. In Gresik, blood donation, digital training for Gresik SMEs, and the Copper Melody Nusantara Concert take place. The culmination is the simultaneous commemoration ceremony for Indonesia's 80th Independence that will be attended by employees and contractors at five PTFI work locations.

All series of activities are carried out with full spirit of mutual cooperation and togetherness with residents around the operational areas. Together with the nation's best sons and daughters, PTFI continues to contribute to the country, carrying out safe and sustainable operations as an expression of gratitude for Indonesia's 80 years of independence.
