Jakarta, 7 Oktober 2024 – PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) was honored with four accolades from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources l (ESDM) for achievements in implementing good coal and mineral mining practices, during the Good Mining Practices Awards 2024 event.

"Thank you for the recognition bestowed on Freeport Indonesia. These will further bolster our commitment to increasing operating standards in all aspects, whether technical, related to conservation, standardizing, or environmental management,” PTFI President Director Tony Wenas said on Monday (7/10).

The ESDM Ministry conferred Good Mining Practices Awards 2024 accolades to mining businesses for implementing good mining practices. The four accolades awarded were accepted by PTFI Vice President of Government Relations & Smelter Technical Support Harry Pancasakti on behalf of PTFI. The first award bestowed to the company was for Minerals and Coal Mining Technical Management, in appreciation of implementing technical management in compliance with prevailing regulation and standards throughout the appraisal period in 2023.

The second award bestowed was for Minerals and Coal Mining Conservation Management, This award is conferred on companies ably and proficiently implementing strategies towards conserving minerals and coal resources.

The third award bestowed was for Minerals and Coal Mining Standardization and Services Management in recognition of companies applying stringent operating standards efficiently in the running of their mining services business. The standardization PTFI applies contributes positively to development of the mining industry in Indonesia.

The fourth award bestowed was for Minerals and Coal Mining Environmental Management. This accolade is designated for businesses operating under a contract of work, as special mining operation permit, and a sustainable mining permit. The environmental management conducted by PTFI was deemed excellent in minimizing impacts from its operation on the environment and supporting sustainability of the surrounding ecosystem.

With PTFI’s second smelter now operating in the Gresik Special Economic Zone (KEK), PTFI has become an integrated upstream to downstream mining company, with its ore mining and processing operation conducted in Tembagapura, Central Papua, and the copper concentrate refining process conducted at the PTFI smelter.

“For Freeport Indonesia, this integrated upstream to downstream mining operation embodies creation of added value, boosting growth of diverse derivative product industries, opening up employment opportunities for local communities, and furthering and supporting Indonesia’s becoming an advanced nation,” Tony said. .
