Jakarta, 23 Agustus 2024 – PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) is supporting the 1,000 Electric Motorcycle Conversion Program initiated by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) to drive the transition to clean and green energy.
“Freeport Indonesia is strongly committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and supporting the creation of clean and environmentally friendly energy. One of the concrete measures we are taking is offering support for the program initiated by the ESDM Ministry,” PTFI President Director Tony Wenas divulged when speaking at the EV Conversion Forum held by the ESDM Ministry in Jakarta on Thursday (22/8).
The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources organized the EV Conversion Forum in appreciation of stakeholders who are involved in strengthening and collaborating to publicize the EV Motor Conversion Race 2024. The event was opened by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Dadan Kusdiana, representing the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahili Lahadalia. The event was attended by various ministries and government agencies, private companies, conversion workshop partners of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and automotive technical vocational schools.
To accelerate the 1,000 Electric Motorbikes Conversion Program, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources involves SOEs, private business entities, including business entities in the mineral and coal sector. In this event PTFI donated 100 electric motorcycles divided into 30 units in Jakarta and 70 motorcycles in Gresik.
Freeport Indonesia is committed to the use of clean energy and more environmentally friendly operations in the mining industry. This contribution to the emission reduction program launched by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources adds to the efforts PTFI has made so far. These include using electric trains to transport ore in the underground mine, replacing diesel trucks that have stopped being used in the open pit mine, and plans to replace coal-fired power plants (PLTU) with steam gas power plants (PLTGU) in PTFI's operational areas.
General Secretary of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Dadan Kusdiana appreciated the involvement of related Ministries, Institutions, State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), and private business entities that have contributed to the success of the Fuel Oil (BBM) motorcycle conversion program. “I appreciate the stakeholders of this 1000-unit free conversion program for the Jabodetabek community. We from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources would like to express our deepest gratitude for their support in this program,” said Dadan.
