Health services are a part of education and employment to accelerate welfare development, especially for indigenous Papuans at this time. In this case, the construction of hospitals is also an essential supporting factor for the effectiveness of health services, especially in areas far from cities, including mainland Papua.

This is the fundamental reason for the Mimika Regency Government, through the Health Office, since mid-2022, has started building a Pratama Regional General Hospital in Waa-Banti Village, Tembagapura District, Mimika Regency, Central Papua Province.

PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) as a global company that mining operations are located in the Mimika Regency area has played an important role in the building process of the Regional General Hospital (RSUD).

PTFI Community Infrastructure Group Leader Rolly Nelwan revealed, based on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) or collaboration with the Mimika Regency Government Health Office, PTFI through the Government Relations Department Government Relations (GovRel) and Community Affairs will provide full support until the Hospital is completed, both for mobilization building materials to be brought to Waa-Banti and the provision of a 25-ton Franna Crane during the construction work process.

PTFI also provides support in the form of electricity and clean water facilities, even after the Hospital is completed, PTFI is committed to providing 1 ambulance unit to support the smooth running of health services from the Hospital to the surrounding community, who are generally native Papuans.

"Through the Community Development Department at the PTFI Community Affairs Division and also assisted by related departments within PTFI such as GovRel, Fleet Management, Kuala Pelabuhan Indonesia (KPI), Supply Chain Management (SCM), Finance & Accounting and Security & Risk Management (SRM) to provide trucks and heavy equipment to mobilize building materials in the form of placing them in containers, open dry, modified pipe skid to transport steel structure materials, steel, sand, lightweight bricks, and other building materials. to Mile 32 then PTFI continued to Kampung Waa-Banti. Because the area to be traversed is still a red zone, we (PTFI) are also coordinating with the Indonesian Military - National Police (TNI-POLRI) for security. But there is indeed a back charge from the costs incurred from the procurement of these tools, as stated in the RAB in the MoU, which will later be paid for by the Mimika Regency Government contractor to PTFI. Until now, the progress of building the hospital has reached 50 percent," Rolly said when interviewed by salampapua.com recently.

Rolly added that before the construction project for this RSUD, PTFI and the Mimika Regency Government had gathered all village heads and tribal chiefs from the villages of Banti 1, Banti 2, Opitawak, and Kimbeli. "At the meeting, the contractor from the Mimika Regency Government presented the Hospital Building, both in the form of 3D pictures and videos. And the village heads and tribal chiefs agreed and were very happy with the construction of the Hospital," he concluded.

As we knew previously that the Head of the Mimika District Health Office, Reynold R. Ubra, S.Si, M.Epid, revealed that his party would build a hospital in Waa-Banti, Tembagapura. Where the mobilization of materials and other technical matters is fully supported by PTFI. Materials and other needs for the construction of the Hospital are sourced from the 2022 Special Allocation Fund (DAK), with a value of IDR 66 billion.
