Freeport Registers 30 thousand People of 7 Tribes in Mimika to Healthcare and Social Security Agency

08 October 2022

PT Freeport Indonesia together with the Amungme and Kamoro Community Empowerment Foundation (YPMAK) through the Caritas Timika Papua Foundation (YCTP) resumed their collaboration with Social Security Agency (BPJS Kesehatan) Jayapura Branch to provide health insurance protection to the seven Tribes of Mimika Regency through the Funding Donation Program.

This collaboration was proven by the signing of a collaboration between the Head of BPJS Kesehatan Jayapura Branch, Djamal Adriansyah, with the Chairman of YCTP, Antonius Tapipea. The signing was also witnessed directly by the Director of Expansion and Services for BPJS Health Participants David Bangun, Deputy Directors of the Papua and West Papua Regions Budi Setiawan, Deputy Directors for Participant Expansion Kisworowati, Plt. Mimika Regent, Johannes Rettob, PT Freeport Indonesia Vice President Community Development Nathan Kum, and Representative of the Chairman of the YPMAK governing body Nur Infa Karupukaro, Friday (7/10/2022).

The Acting Regent of Mimika, Johannes Rettob, appreciated the synergy carried out in supporting the implementation of the National Health Insurance (JKN) program. With the continuation of this collaboration, the number of people in Mimika Regency protected by the JKN program is increasing, from only 10 thousand people to 30 thousand people.

Johannes added that the collaboration was also something special, especially ahead of the 26th Anniversary of Mimika Regency. He hopes that the collaboration and cooperation of PT Freeport Indonesia through YPMAK and YCTP with BPJS Health will help the local government to provide health protection to all people in Mimika Regency.

"We continue to strive to provide the best service to the community. Of course, local governments cannot work alone. It needs the support and cooperation of all stakeholders in Mimika to provide the best public services in health services and data collection for residents who have not been registered with the JKN Program, so we hope that the JKN program participation coverage in Mimika Regency can reach 100% of the total population," said Johannes.

Director of Expansion and Services for BPJS Health Participants David Bangun highly appreciates the efforts of the Mimika Regency Government, PT Freeport Indonesia, and YPMAK for the support provided to the JKN Program. According to him, this is a funding donation made by a company with the largest number of participants throughout Indonesia.

"The support from the local government and PT Freeport Indonesia in the Funding Donation Program for the registration of the seven tribes of the Mimika Regency can be an example for other companies in contributing to participant registration and paying JKN membership dues as a form of the principle of mutual cooperation among all elements of the nation for the implementation of good quality health insurance in Indonesia," concluded David.
