Gresik, January 7, 2025 – The Deputy Governor of Lemhannas RI (Indonesia's National Resilience Institute) Lieutenant General TNI Eko Margiyono and his staff visited PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) Smelter in the Gresik Special Economic Zone (KEK) on Tuesday.

The Lemhannas RI visit was accompanied by several PT ANTAM Tbk. leadership members and was directly welcomed by PTFI President Director Tony Wenas. On this occasion, Lemhannas RI reviewed how to optimize PTFI Smelter Governance to secure mineral asset control in order to strengthen national natural resource sovereignty.

"During this visit, Lemhannas seeks to directly understand the implementation of downstream policies in the mining sector, particularly those carried out by PTFI. We see that the smelter governance in Gresik reflects global standards in metal refining," said Lieutenant General TNI Eko Margiyono.

Tony Wenas expressed his appreciation for the visit and support from Lemhannas RI and ANTAM. "We are very grateful for the visit and support from Lemhannas RI and ANTAM. This collaboration is proof of PTFI's commitment to implementing downstream policies and making positive contributions to the nation and state," he said.

Tony explained that the presence of PTFI's smelter in Gresik is a concrete manifestation of the company's commitment to supporting the government's downstream program. This smelter not only purifies copper concentrate but also provides added value to the regional and national economy.

This visit also became an important momentum to strengthen cooperation between PTFI and ANTAM, and support from Lemhannas RI can realize Indonesia's natural resource sovereignty. This cooperation is expected to make significant contributions to the advancement of the national mining industry and community welfare.

Tony said PTFI is committed to continuing innovation and improving operational efficiency and security of PTFI's smelter in Gresik. PTFI will also continue to collaborate with various parties, including the government, state-owned enterprises, and the community, to ensure that its operational activities provide optimal benefits for the nation and state.
