Persipura Injected with Freeport Aid Funding According to 4-3-3 Pattern

05 July 2022

PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) stated that its financial support to Persipura Jayapura is according to a 4-3-3 pattern. Freeport Indonesia Vice President Corporate Communication, Riza Pratama stated that the company will extend funding aid totaling Rp.4 billion to Persipura Jayapura in the Liga (League) 2 Indonesia. “In addition to the Rp.4 billion assistance, we will again be giving our support to Persipura. However, the sponsorship fund will be according to a particular designed scheme,” stated Riza Pratama, as quoted from ANTARA News Agency.

Furthermore, PT Freeport Indonesia will provide additional funding if Persipura Jayapura manages to return into Liga 1, the highest soccer caste of the Indonesian league. Riza stated that the company would be allocating a budget amounting to Rp.3 billion if Persipura returns to Liga 1. According to him, if Persipura is able to perch in the top five of the final Liga 1 standings, PT Freeport Indonesia will again provide funding worth Rp.3 billion.

Riza explained that PT Freeport Indonesia’s support for Persipura Jayapura to play in the Liga 2 season 2022-2023 has increased to Rp.2 billion over the previous. Meanwhile, previously the manager of Persipura Jayapura, Yan Permanas Mandenas, said that the Rp.4 billion figure was approved after negotiations with PT Freeport Indonesia. “We therefore extend our appreciation to PTFI for increasing the value of the sponsorship to Persipura,” said Yan Permanas Mandenas.

In reality, Persipura Jayapura needs a budget of Rp.21 billion to Rp.25 billion to sail in the Liga 2 competitions. Meanwhile, PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Papua has not yet started to communicate with Persipura in terms of sponsorship funds.
