PT Freeport Indonesia has donated one mini ICU ambulance to the Mimika District Health Services as a token of support for the district population.
PTFI Director & EVP Social Responsibility & Community Development, Claus Wamafma, said in Timika on Monday that until now the cooperation between Freeport and the Mimika Regional Administration has been well established through educational, health, fishery programs et al.
Back in 2021, Claus said, Freeport has also donated a health clinic to the Pomako Port, Pomako District, East Mimika, another health clinic located in SP9 Iwaka District and another health clinic in SP12 Kuala Kencana District all to be managed by the Mimika Health Srvices.
The Mini ICU ambulances donated by Freeport are aimed to support the three earlier mentioned health clinics. “They are not the ordinary ambulances as we know them but are fully equipped with ICU apparatus that can handle critical patients who need lifting and first-hand emergency procedures,” Claus Wamafma said.
Claus continued to say Freeport is consistently committed to support the Government in its efforts to build up and develop the community of Mimika. “In short Freeport will always be ready to stand side by side with the government, be its closest ally and partner in the effort to accelerate the development of Mimika’s people,” Claus stated.
Mimka Regent, Eltinus Omaleng at the handover of the mini-ICU ambulance from PTFI spoke saying this year the Mimika Regional Government is building a D-type hospital in Banti village, Tembagapura District, with a budget from the Special Allocation Fund (DAK) in the amount of DR 62 billion,
At the same occasion, the Regent also handed over 4 ambulances and 8 motorbikes for health workers carrying out health assignments in the city area and the suburbs off Timika City.
Mimika Health Service Secretary, Marselinnus Mameyao, mentioned that the ambulances referred to will be given to community health centres (Puskesmas) in Jile Yale, Pasar Sentral, Wania, dan Kwamki Narama, while the motorbikes will be handed over to community health centres in Ayuka, Mapurujaya , Wania,Limau, Asri, Pasar Sentral Bhinneka, Timika Jaya and Jile Yale. The budgets for the ambulances in the total amount of IDR3.2 billion and the budget for the motorbikes in the amount of IDR 410,800,000 are funded by DAK.
