Timika, June 7, 2025 - PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) and the Amungme Kamoro Community Empowerment Foundation (YPMAK) delivered aid to residents affected by the landslide in Tsinga Village, Tembagapura District, Mimika Regency.
"This aid is to ease the burden of residents whose gardens were affected by the landslide and to support the government in village recovery. We hope this aid can quickly reach the community in the village whose gardens were destroyed by the landslide and whose access to gardens and inter-village roads was cut off," said PTFI Senior Vice President (SVP) Sustainable Development Nathan Kum during the aid handover at the Mozes Kilangin Timika Airport Hangar on Thursday (6/5).
In this activity, Nathan handed over PTFI's aid in the form of food supplies weighing 2.5 tons, and YPMAK Director Leonardus Tumuka handed over YPMAK's aid in the form of funds totaling Rp150 million to the Mimika Regency Social Services Department. Also present to witness the aid handover were Tembagapura District Head Tobias Yawame, Dolinigogin Village Head Samuel Kum, and Bebilawak Village Head Herman Kum.
Leonardus Tumuka said the aid for landslide-affected residents in Tsinga could be realized quickly due to good coordination between the Mimika Regency Government, PTFI, and YPMAK. "We cannot ignore this disaster-affected situation, especially since it's in the Mimika area and has become something we must handle together to help the community affected by this natural disaster," he said.
Head of Social Protection and Guarantee Division of Mimika Regency Social Services Department Jenni Padallingan said this aid is very meaningful for residents affected by the landslide natural disaster in Tsinga Village, Tembagapura District. "Representing the Mimika Regency Government, we express our greatest appreciation to PTFI and YPMAK who have provided this aid, so it can reduce the burden on the community there. This aid represents a good collaboration between PTFI, YPMAK, and the Mimika Regency Government in handling disasters," said Jenni.
Tembagapura District Head Tobias Yawame was grateful because this is not the first time PTFI and YPMAK have provided aid. "On behalf of the community, I thank Freeport and YPMAK who continue to provide assistance. Mutual support is important to ease the burden of those affected by disasters," said Tobias.
Furthermore, to accelerate the aid delivery process and ensure residents can quickly receive this aid, YPMAK coordinated with Mimika Social Services to facilitate shipment using a special aircraft to Tsinga Village.
