Pesparawi XIII throughout the Land of Papua has just been officially opened by the Governor of Papua Lukas Enembe represented by the Regent of Mimika Eltinus Omaleng, Saturday (30/10/2021), at the Basketball Hall, Mimika Sport Complex (MSC) which was built by PT Freeport Indonesia.
Director of PT Freeport Indonesia, Claus Wamafma, who was present at the opening of Pesparawi XIII throughout Papua, admitted that he was proud to participate in sponsoring activities that had an impact on creating unity in bringing peace to Indonesia from Mimika.
In the opening, which was attended by 21 regencies/cities throughout Papua Province, Claus Wamafma congratulated the Pesparawi XIII committee throughout Papua in Mimika Regency.
For him, Pesparawi is a party for all Papuan people in general and Mimika Regency in particular. This was proven by the presence of the Regents, Deputy Regents, Mayors, and the Regional Secretary at the opening ceremony of Pesparawi XIII throughout Papua in Mimika.
"This is a party for all Papuan people in general and Mimika Regency in particular. Today's opening was so lively, from 21 regencies/cities. Not only participants but also Regional Leaders attended the opening ceremony. The presence of this regional leadership showed extraordinary commitment, from all stakeholders in Papua, for the success of Pesparawi," said Claus.
Claus added, of course, PTFI is very supportive and proud to be a sponsor of the Pesparawi XIII in Mimika Regency, with the hope that this Pesparawi will not only be a competition, an event where participants compete to show their abilities, but also strengthen unity to bring peace.
The important message in Pesparawi is how to build awareness of the importance of the environment, the environment in which we are present and work. That is the important thing seen from the opening of Pesparawi in Mimika.
Asked about PTFI's support for Pesparawi activities, Claus explained, in October 2021 there were two important events in Mimika, such as National Sports Week (PON) and Pesparawi XIII throughout Papua, where PTFI was also present to show its commitment to support the Papua Provincial Government by providing sponsorship and also providing a magnificent match venue in Mimika Regency.
"There was a lot of participation from PTFI, including volunteers from PTFI who joined in the success of the last PON. The same thing was shown by PTFI in Pesparawi XIII. We are present in the form of logistical assistance, MSC building, and other support which of course we are happy to be part of Pesparawi XIII this year 2021 Papua. PT Freeport Indonesia will continue to help until Pesparawi XIII activities in Mimika Regency are completed," added Claus.
