As a token of supporting the Kamoro community ‘s in doing their holy sacramental worship services in Kokonoa, PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) has made special donations in the form of fuel and food items to the church which was handed over symbolically by the Community Affairs Division Local Institutions Relations Manager, Ricardo Komul, to the Deputy Chairperson of the Kamoro Tribe Deliberative Organization (Lemasko), Dominikus Mitoro, at the office for Community Affairs in Kuala Kencana on Thursday (4/21). The aid comprised of 10,000 litres of fuel (gasoline), and food items of a total value of Rp.170, 848,010.00

Ricardo Komul explained that the assistance was rendered as a form of PTF’s concern and participation in the activities which were organized by the Kamoro local tribe. The assistance was also provided to make the activities a resounding success. “Based on a written request from the executive committee the spiritual reconciliation activity of the Kamoro tribe was then approved and considered for assistance in accordance with PTFI’s standard practices. We sincerely hope our assistance will be useful and effectively used, “Ricardo said.

Ricardo said that the assistance was handed over through Lemasko, the official institute representing the Kamoro tribe and also a partner of PTFI, “in other words, we handed it over to Mr Gregorius Okoare, chief managing board of Lemasko (which on the basis of MoU 2000 is in partnership with PTFI) and who will later forward the assistance to the executive committee,” he explained.

On the same occasion, 1st Chair of Lemasko, Dominikus Mitoro, concurrently Chairman of the Worship Committee for Reconciliations, expressed his gratitude to PTFI for generously helping the community to attend the activities in Kokonao. "Thank you very much PTFI for not staying impassive but on the contrary helping the Kamoro community bringing their activities to a success, we likewise thank Lemasko for executing them. We will use the assistance effectively primarily to service the community,” he said.

Dominikus also invited the Kamoro people from Nakai to Potowayburu to maintain good relations with PTFI as this bond between us has been tight like between parents and children.  PTFI will always be there to help the communities in Mimika Regency especially the Kamoro tribe. “When I arrive in Kokonao I will tell all the people there that PTFI has never remained silent but ready to make the reconciliatory worship service a resounding success. Let’s all together take good care of PTFI in the hope it will always remain operating smoothly without obstacles,” he said

Dominikus then clarifies that Reconciliation is one of the seven sacraments of the Catholic Church. The Sacrament of Reconciliation or Confession of Sins is also known as the Sacrament of Penance. “Through this sacrament the people of the Catholic Church confess their sins through which they will receive forgiveness; through this sacrament they are also at once reconciled with the church which they had spurned because of their sins.
