The Provincial Government of Central Papua and PT Freeport Indonesia Hold Fun Walks and Clean Up Waste!

In commemoration of World Environment Day, the government of Central Papua Province, PT Freeport Indonesia, and the Nabire Regency government held a fun walk and cleaned up the environment in the capital city of Nabire, Central Papua.

 

This activity was held for the first time in Central Papua Province and attended by thousands of participants from the state civil apparatus, Indonesian National Armed Force - National Police, students, and the public.

 

The fun walk was participated by the acting Regional Secretary of Central Papua Province, Valentinus Sudarjanto Sumito, and President Director of PT Freeport Indonesia, Tony Wenas, started from the courtyard of the Central Papua Governor's Office to Nabire Beach, a distance of approximately 2.5 kilometers.

 

During the fun walk, all participants were provided with trash bags to pick up waste along the Nabire City road to Nabire Beach.

 

And continued with planting trees on Nabire Beach which is a tourist location for Nabire residents.

 

At the momentum of World Environment Day, the Central Papua Provincial government also publish a governor's regulation regarding regional policies and strategies in waste management to reduce waste in Central Papua Province.

 

The Acting Regional Secretary of Central Papua Province, Valentinus Sudarjanto Sumito, hopes the governor's regulation on waste management policies and strategies can reduce waste by 30 percent in 2025.
