Jakarta, 16 February 2026 – Three players from the Papua Football Academy (PFA) have earned a golden opportunity to participate in a training camp and selection program with football clubs in Austria through the PFA Elite Camp 2026 Goes to Austria.
“I want to compete in Europe and gain international experience,” said PFA player Dolvi T. Salossa (15) after an audience with PT Freeport Indonesia President Director Tony Wenas in Jakarta, Monday, February 9, 2026.
During the meeting, Dolvi shared that he and two of his PFA teammates, Jupri Kogoya and Yance Glen Imbiri, will depart for Vienna, Austria for a three-week training program. The 9th-grade student expressed great enthusiasm for this opportunity and eagerness to experience playing football at the international level.
“I want to make my parents and family proud,” said Dolvi, who was accompanied at the meeting by PTFI Director & EVP of Sustainable Development Claus Wamafma, PFA Academy Director Wolfgang Pikal, and Head Coach Ardiles Rumbiak.
Echoing Dolvi, Jupri Kogoya (15) shared that his biggest motivation for joining this Elite Camp is to make his homeland proud. “I want to prove that we Papuan children can also play in Europe,” he said.
PTFI President Director Tony Wenas said during the audience that PTFI fully supports young football talents at PFA to continue excelling and opens access for them to gain various competitive experiences at the national and international levels.
“Gaining experience abroad is certainly a source of great pride as it will help build the mental strength and confidence to always be competitive and ultimately break into the national team,” said Tony.
He explained that since 2022, PTFI established PFA with the grand vision of opening the widest possible opportunities for Papuan children to develop their football talents. “We were born and raised in Papua and achieved success in Papua. That success must be given back to the community and to all the younger generation so they can contribute to Indonesia,” he said to the PFA players.
The program will run from February 12 to March 9, 2026, during which the players will train with 3 clubs: Fak Austria Wien (Bundesliga 1 - Austria) February 13-20, FAC Wien (Bundesliga 2 - Austria) February 23- 27, and FC First Vienna (Bundesliga 2 - Austria) March 2-6.
PFA Elite Camp Goes to Austria is the third edition of the Elite Camp program. In the first edition, Yulius Pigay, Samuel Cundrad, and Peres Tjoe (first batch PFA participants, born in 2009) successfully made the final squad of the national team in preparation for the 2026 U17 Asian Cup, and they are now part of the Garuda United team competing in the EPA U18.
“With the experience of competing abroad, players experience a higher level of football, build their mental fortitude, and boost their confidence because they have gained additional skills and knowledge that other young players may not have the opportunity to acquire,” said Tony.
