71st Indonesian Independence Day Anniversary Commemoration at Freeport Indonesia's Work Areas.

Observance of the anniversary of Republic of Indonesia Independence Day is an essential agenda in the Company. The series of activities in commemoration of the 71st Independence Day at PTFI kicked off on Monday (15/8) with a ceremony to induct the Paskibra flag-hoisting squads who would be participating in the commemoration ceremony to be held at the Tembaga Community Hall in the highland area, and at the Multipurpose Building in Kuala Kencana, in the lowland area. This year, PTFI’s Paskibra squads were once again comprised of select employees from various divisions and departments, as well as select students from the Yayasan Pendidikan Jayawijaya (YPJ) schools in Tembagapura and Kuala Kencana.

On Wednesday (17/8) morning, the moment of proclamation of Republic of Indonesia Independence was reenacted in flag-hoisting ceremonies in Tembagapura, Kuala Kencana and Jakarta. Hundreds of employee delegates from various departments filled the ceremony venues since early in the morning. They were in uniforms distinguishing their respective departments, with some, in enthusiasm and a spirit of solidarity wearing uniforms specially ordered for the occasion. At the morning ceremony, officiating as inspector of ceremonies were EVP Human Resources Ahmad Didi Ardianto in Tembagapura, EVP Sustainable Development Sonny Prasetyo in Kuala Kencana, and EVP Legal & Public Affairs Clementino Lamury in the Jakarta office. As in previous years, the Paskibra squads’ flag-raising performance in Tembagapura and Kuala Kencana elicited clucks of admiration from those present.

In Tembagapura, the flag-hoisting ceremony was followed by a people’s fair that was opened with a performance of patriotic songs delivered by Harvey Malaiholo, and then there was a lively and spirited colossal dance production featuring traditional dances from various regions of Indonesia, performed by deputations from company employees and the local community.

In Kuala Kencana, after the flag-hoisting ceremony, 71st Independence Day celebrations featured a bazaar and games and contests specific to the occasion, with the community and Timika residents enthusiastically participating.

The Jakarta office was not to be left out, and held its own distinct Independence Day festivities with Jakarta office employees attending.

The Freeporters community was immersed in the spirit of celebrating the 71st anniversary of Republic of Indonesia Independence Day, in the Company’s various operating areas. Long Live the independent Republic of Indonesia! (Sularso)
