Amungme and Kamoro community empowerment foundation YPMAK has provided Rp 1 billion in assistance in support of the 13th Church Choir Festival, Pesparawi  XIII. This event involves all Papuan regions, with Mimika Regency acting as host. YPMAK manages the endowment fund from PT Freeport Indonesia. The assistance was presented to the event’s organizing committee.

Presentation of the assistance by YPMAK was conducted symbolically at the second-floor conference room of YPMAK offices 3 and 4 on Jalan Yos Sudarso on Monday (18/10/2021). YPMAK Director Vebian Magal said YPMAK in its capacity of a social affairs foundation serving the community, and the government participate in major events organized by the government and the community. He explained, YPMAK undertakes three primary programs, namely for education, health, and people’s economy. However, YPMAK also supports church organizations, customary organizations, and other societal organizations.

"That is why YPMAK finds it necessary to participate in Pesparawi activities, regardless of the amount provided. We are only providing Rp 1 billion for this Pesparawi event,” Vebian stated in a release received by Kompas.com. Notwithstanding the Rp 1 billion assistance, Vebian added, in principle YPMAK will support such activity and therefore going forward excellent communication is needed to ensure Pesparawi activities proceed safely, smoothly, and successfully. The chairperson of the all-Papua Pesparawi organizing committee who is also the vice regent of Mimika, Johanis Rettob expressed gratitude for the assistance. “The committee does not have funds, and as such we thank YPMAK for the Rp 1 billion assistance, which will be used for catering and other needs,” Johanis Rettob said. The vice regent further hoped for support from all to ensure Pesparawi proceeds smoothly and successfully.
