Freeport Indonesia delivers assistance of 20 thousand packages of staple foods to Papua Police

PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) is providing assistance initiated by Papua Police in the form of 20 thousand packages of food staples, in support of successful implementation of the 20th national games PON XX and acceleration of the COVID-19 vaccination program in Jayapura launched by Papua Police on Monday (11/10). A PT Freeport Indonesia Corcom press release issued on Monday said the 20,000 (twenty thousand) staple foods packages  assistance will be distributed through Jayapura Regency Police (9,000 packages), Jayapura City Police (9,000 packages), and Mimika Police (2,000 packages). 

The 20,000 staple foods packages assistance from PTFI was symbolically presented by PTFI Vice President of Security Risk Management (SRM) Arief Nasuha to Papua Police Chief Inspector General Mathius Fakhiri at the Papua Police Offices in  Jayapura. On this occasion, Papua Police Chief Inspector General Mathius Fakhiri expressed his appreciation for the support and contributions provided by PTFI for the accelerated COVID-19 vaccinations program in Papua. "We are deeply grateful for the concern shown by PTFI through provision of this assistance of staple foods towards accekerating vaccinations vaccinations. We are hopeful of increasing vaccination coverage before PON closes,” Inspector General Mathius Fakhiri said. The Papua Police Chief divulged the assistance packages would be distributed to those taking COVID-19 vaccinations. 

On behalf of PTFI management, Arief Nasuha said PT Freeport Indonesia’s support for the program is part of the company’s commitment to play a part in implementation of the PON XX Papua event, and boosting the government’s COVID-19 vaccination program. “PTFI believes that a factor in ensuring the success of PON XX Papua is controlling COVID-19, including accelerating vaccinations for Papuans. And PTFI is highly committed to ensuring the success of PON XX and has been actively involved in programs for the mitigation and control of Covid-19, in particular in Mimika Regency," Arief said.
