Freeport Shares Divestment Administration Changes Following Papua’s Expansion

Acting Regional Secretary of Mimika, Petrus Yumte mentioned that the administration related to the divestment of PT Freeport Indonesia’s (PTFI) shares changes, following the expansion of Papua. “In terms of the divestment of shares, shall also change administratively,” he stated in Timika, Monday (11/28).

He stated that as it actually qualifies as being civic in nature, there definitely will be agreements, document procurements, notary deeds and others that will ensue due to this change.

“We wish it to be speedy, however there will be administration requiring adjustments. Where profit sharing is concerned it shall require (mutual) agreement, right,” thus Petrus.

Furthermore, said Petrus, because of the actuality of Daerah Otonomi Baru (DOB), or New Autonomy Region, thus there will be resolving to apply in terms of related administrative diversions including in the formation of Regional Enterprises/Companies (Perusahaan Daerah/Perusda).

Petrus stated, previously the divestment of shares was indeed discussed in the then Province of Papua. However, due to new Daerah Otonomi Baru, naturally transition and subsequent changes will occur.

“To come to the point, we can’t precede, however surely there are going to be new adjustments occurring. For us, here in Timika, wish it to be speedy so that there are incoming funds/money and the Anggaran Pendapatan dan Belanja Daerah (APBD), or Regional Budget is able to achieve Rp.7 or Rp.8 trillion,” he concluded.
