Officially Begun, Freeport Accommodates Special Transportation for 3,600 Papuan Employees who Celebrate Christmas in their Hometown

PT Freeport Indonesia through an annual event Christmas Flight and Boat program accommodate special flights and cruises for its Papuan employees and families who will celebrate Christmas in their hometown.

There is an increase of 43 percent YoY in the 2022-2023 Christmas Flight and Boat program.

In 2021, there were 2,170 employees and their families participating, and this year it has increased to more than 3,600.

Besides, the 2022-2023 Christmas Flight and Boat program also serves 47 destinations that are the destinations of the participants.

The 2022-2023 Christmas Flight and Boat program was officially opened by PTFI's Director and EVP Sustainable, Claus Wamafma at Perintis Lama Airport, Friday (9/12) which was marked by Tifa's beating.

This program aims to accommodate flights and cruises for employees and their dependents who are entitled to celebrate Christmas in their hometown.

Director and EVP Sustainable PTFI, Claus Wamafma in his speech said this program is routinely carried out by PT Freeport Indonesia except during the last pandemic which stopped due to travel restrictions for both planes and ships by the government.

"This facility isn't only for enjoyed by employees who celebrate Christmas but also those who celebrate Eid al-Fitr and it is held every year," said Claus.

Claus hoped the committee to prepare this program well so that it can run smoothly.

Besides, the committee was also asked to provide education so that the participants can go back to their hometowns safely.

Claus also hopes that an evaluation of the Christmas Flight and Boat program will continue every year so that the program runs well, including recording the increase in participants' passengers and luggage.

"Like the speed of service, in addition to anticipating sudden weather changes that could disrupt transportation that will run. In addition, participants are expected to maintain cleanliness and order while on board planes and ships and airports and ports," he said.

At the opening of the event, aid was also handed over from the Jayawijaya Education Foundation (YPJ) Kuala Kencana school for rural communities.

Apart from that, accommodation tickets and gifts were symbolically handed over to the representatives of the participants. (ron)
