PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) has participated in making the 3rd Indonesian Gospel Tabernacle Conference (GKII) Region 2 Central Highlands, Papua, a success. The conference was held in Timika from April12 to April 15, 2022.
For that occasion PTFI through its Department Community Affairs provided assistance to the organizing committee in the form of food aid and other items which were personally handed over by PTFI’s Vice President Community Development, Nathan Kum at GKII Mayon, Timika, Papua on Friday last week (4/8/22).
In his address Nathan Kum said that PTFI’s assistance was given as a token of Freeport’s concern for the residents. “The aid we handed over should not be counted for its nominal value but should be seen in the framework of care, concern and attention from the company to the communities living in the areas surrounding the mining operation,” he said. In addition Kum expressed his wish that the PTFI donation will be able to facilitate all activities in relation to the success of the conference. “While not of very high monetary value, we hope our aid helps smoothen the implementation of the conference,” he said.
For information the donation PTFI handed over to the Executive Committee of the 3rd GKII III Conference for the Central Highlands consisted of two-way pre-scheduled bus tickets to the conference for the stretch Timika-Tembagapura v.v., food aid and 5 pigs. Meanwhile the Chairman of the Executive Committee for the Conference, Reverend Moses Lokberem S. Th, also expressed his sincere gratitude to PTFI for its generosity.
On that occasion it was also explained that the committee had prepared an entire series of conferences taking place between April 12 to 15, 2022 at the Eme Neme Jaware Building in Timika, Papua. The Conference was attended by 26 parishes in the central highlands of Papua.
